Tragicomedy 02:53
they met at a coffee shop on banff avenue everything was straight forward he went up and said how do you do? they'd go on a few dates and have some fun stay out too late have a couple of pints and say hello to the sun does it even matter where the contrived misunderstandings arise does it even change the fact that they have nothing in common except a mutual level of physical attractiveness your drunk best friend doesn't seem to mind Cause life isn’t a rom com There are no meet cutes Life isn’t a rom com Chances are you’ll die alone (Unless of course you don’t) On a dark and stormy night your true love bites the dust You vow swift revenge, so bloody your blade will rust The spirit of your lover appears to you in the foggy haze It speaks in perfect verse and says it was your brother and his evil ways! Does it even matter that this thing could be the devil itself? Does it even change the fact that everyone knows how this one ends, but they don’t understand a word! It still makes money anyway! Cause life isn’t Shakespeare There are no vengeful ghosts Life isn’t Shakespeare You’ll still likely die alone (Unless of course you don’t) Life is never simple But as an old friend once said "between tragedy and comedy The only difference is how it ends” Love is the simple thing It makes the whole trip worth while If you let yourself be loved You just might not die alone (Unless of course you do)

When I was six years old I went as Spider-man for halloween three times When I was eight years old my homemade costume was bursting at the seams I grabbed a cape and mask, threw on a french style hat I was called the Midnight Ranger I rode a fire breathing horse The Ranger rode across the land stopping any evil that he faced Upon his trusty steed his legend would spread far and wide Like a shadow in the sun, a light under the moon Disappear on the horizon as if he was made of air They all said 'hey I've never heard of this guy' You can't make your own heroes from scratch To that I say well just watch the Ranger ride The only thing he can't do is fly

Once upon a time I wrote a song about floating in space (floating in space) High above just about everything Every little line a silly simile of the way I felt Because the universe and me Because the universe and you The astronaut would meet a pretty girl and they'd fall in love (they'd fall in love) And when you asked something about I'd say something dumb Honesty's overrated and a lie can fix well everything Because the universe and me Because the universe and you I'm sorry it took me so long to say to you All those things I wanted to say when I met you Hop inside and we'll get back home soon I won't keep you out late I promise I'll get you back by 8 Because the universe and me Because the universe and you Because the universe and me Because the universe and you Because the universe and me Because the universe and you

A Memory 03:51
Well I waited for you on the side of the road A Gatorade in hand and a hung over head And you drove me to work and said I was a jerk we’d be friends until we were dead When you flew cross the sea I thought maybe You’d have a change of heart instead Well you lied to me when you said you played drums how hard could it be to count to four and repeat? And you asked me to be in the wedding party Here I thought that was all obsolete It’s an honour indeed now I think we need To get three sheets to the wind And it’s a hey ho, you can’t go it alone We’ll all be there when it’s done When you’re drunk and I’m high And we play crack the sky We will dance to the morning sun I was drunk in a crowd when I first heard you sing Everyone said you were so bloody cool We played in a band, not the best in the land But maybe the best at our school I miss that all now but I try not to dwell If I do I might break my own rules And it’s a hey ho, you can’t go it alone We’ll all be there when it’s done When you’re drunk and I’m high And we play crack the sky We will dance to the morning sun And it’s a hey ho, you can’t go it alone We’ll all be there when it’s done When you’re drunk and I’m high And we play crack the sky We will dance to the morning sun We will dance to the morning sun We will dance to the morning sun
